Call (478) 472-7661 with questions about specific documents or to confirm what you need to bring. Under O.C.G.A. 15-6-77, the recording fee is $25.00 per document. Uncertified copies run $0.50 per page. Certified copies are $2.50 for the first page, then $0.50 each additional page.
All deeds must be signed in front of two witnesses and notarized. The clerk's office cannot provide legal advice per O.C.G.A. 15-19-51. Seek an attorney for legal guidance.
Pre-1999 records are not in the online system. You must visit the office in person to access those older documents.

Macon County Online Deed Index
The main statewide search tool for Georgia deed records is the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority (GSCCCA) real estate portal. Index data goes back to January 1, 1999 for all Georgia counties.
Search by grantor or grantee name to find property transactions. Each result shows the buyer, seller, property location, and book and page number.
No account is needed just to view the index. Plans start at $14.95/month for Regular, $29.95/month for Premium, or $5.00 for 4-hour Single-Use access. Printing costs $0.50 per page. Register at account.gsccca.org.
To search Macon County specifically, filter results by county when using the GSCCCA portal. The statewide index includes all deed types: warranty deeds, quitclaim deeds, security deeds, and other recorded instruments. Each record links to an image of the actual document for account holders.
The GSCCCA system also lets you search by book and page number if you already have that reference from a prior title search. This is useful when tracing a chain of title in Macon County going back to 1999.

When you submit a deed for recording, the clerk's office stamps it with the date and time received and assigns a book and page number. That number becomes the permanent reference for the document. Keep it for your records.
